What happened to May, June and July? Good questions, alot of things that I will summarize here. I hope you are all having a nice summer!

Burden of Sleep

Here's the artwork for the debut release by Burden of Sleep! A release date is still pending...go figure, the story of my life right now. Anyways, this music comes from the writer and producer of Solace, Jeremiah M. Soto. This is an experiment in short wave radio frequencies and neo-ambient piano and electronica. I have to thank Dann M. Torres for turning me on to this kind of haunting genre.

Documentary Work

I've been busy with an independent film company called CinePartners, rearranging and composing music for thier debut release "Trading On Thin Air". We are looking to do more productions and I'm seeking out other avenue's to explore this venture. If you are a video game company, movie maker, producer of documentaries, let me know. I can create unique music for any theme. Plus I could use the experience and I think it's fun! Check out what I've done so far:

That's Right Folks!

It's getting there, slowly but surely! 12 tracks of edgey, futuristic, haunting goodness from Solace. Plus the FIRST 50 Pre-Orders will receive a free 3-song demo for FREE! If I sound like I'm stuttering...I am...a "Full Blown Stutter"! I am very estatic and excited to share with you what I believe is some of my best material to date. That is Elayssa Thompson ladies and gentlemen. Transformed and medusafied for your un-nerving and mystical pleasure. Wait....did you ask if I had sound clips? But.....of course! Clips

I began production on Gorgon Days right after Opium Head was mixed. With a theme all ready in place, I was eager to get started on this introspective journey. About 25 songs were produced within a 9 month period. I utilized Indian, Arabic and Balkan styles, mixed them together, fused them with elements of hip-hop, drum n' bass and industrial. This the next evolution of Solace, yet just a small example of what is to come from the Future Of World Music!

How About a Side Project for your Burger?

Ahhhhh, the rumors fly around a bit about Solace side projects that are not named after Solace. What do you think? Ya know, I've dabbled in other forms of music before delving into what is known to be fusion. Electronic Pop? Neo-Classical Ambient? What? Sleep deprivation provides stimulus to a brain swimming in nausea induced by 16 year scotch. Can the back ground reflect and bounce a sound into the ear canal, like a cupped hand muffling the ear? Is that music? A wall of beautiful sadness? An echo of a memory long past but remembered...just barely? It sounds like babble, but it's music. It's not what you think could be possible. It's frequencies floated in the air, numbers, phrases and repetitivness. Ahhhh if only I could sleep...

Really?

Gorgon Days isn't even out yet and you all ready have another theme and 10 songs for the next Solace? Did you take a song Viagra or something? Did you let the Muse out of her cage? I'm talking to myself again! Don't answer! But I have to....OK, no viagra and yes, the Muse somehow found her way into my studio. There was a 3 year break in between Opium Head and Gorgon Days, I don't want to do that with these new titles. I am hoping to release the next Solace CD in Spring or Summer of 2011. I feel compelled to do this...the songs are too good to sit on any longer. I am still writing new songs for this project, but I will keep everyone informed about the progress.

February News

Love is Upon Us!

February has proven so far to be cold and wet. I don't know we celebrate it in the winter, it should be a Spring thing, right? Well, no matter! I will celebrate with my lovely wife in San Francisco, looking forward to it!

I know it seems like I've been out of the public eye for awhile, I'm trying to organize more workshops and appearances. I've been working diligently on Gorgon Days as well as new material. Other things are beginning to take light as well. I can't speak about them yet until contracts have been signed. So I will definitely keep you all informed.

Rantings & Future Musings

So many ideas...so little time...Gorgon Days is still in post production. I am looking at a Spring release and feeling itchy with this new release. I want to get it out sooner, but it has to be right. I can't compromise on the quality, I expect it and you as the fan expects its.

In other thoughts, the digital download realm is growing very fast. We are fortunate to have started this 5 years ago. In the next 5 years, I don't really see physical CDs as being an option for consumers. Maybe at events, but online, it's all downloads, all the time. As an artist, I have to change with the times to keep up with it all. What will be the next thing. A direct digital download into your brain? Anything is possible. I am considering limited CD pressings, when they are all sold, it will be download only. This is just an idea I'm considering. Being an old salty dog, I love and still buy CDs, call it nostalgia, but if my iTunes ever dies, I have everything backed up. I also have the artwork and any notes from the artists, which is the first thing to be left out in a digital download. It seems the days of album covers are gone. Consumers just care about the song, the next radio hit, not the inner thoughts or visuals that help convey the story along with the music. It's a necessary evil, but I won't compromise on quality or visuals just because you don't have to anymore. I love you all. Long live Solace and EMP.

Side Projects?

Yes....I know. I've talked about this before. There are 11 little gems waiting in the wings that are NOT Solace songs. They are being tweeked and experimented with. I don't want to tell you the project name just yet. I will tell you that I returned to my electronic roots, a little poppy with a melancholy edge. A little guitar, heavy beats, airy synth pads and thumping bass lines. Cuirous? You'll have to wait...

I am taking steps to begin the production of Gorgon Days, the big brother to The Medusa Crown. A photo shoot is being scheduled with the beautifully talented Katie Kay of Skin Graft fame, andI will be using long time friend Ryan Beck for the shoot, so the pics should be top notch and stunning! I have been feverishly working on completing a 5 song EP titled "Medusa Crown" planned for a release in the coming months. Currently, it's being mastered by Mike Wells who skillfully mastered "Watzes, Glitches, and Brass: The New Sounds of Vaudeville". Opium Head (standard edition)!

We're still working out the details for the regular CD release of Opium Head by Solace. The CD cover will be different from the deluxe version (and in our new packaging!), but will still feature the beautiful Rachel Brice. We've also included a bonus track called Minerva Stone that will be exclusive to this disc. Opium Head is planned as a digital download on CD Baby in the coming month (Jan 2009). We will then announce the release date of the physical CD, probably early February.
