(eve03) Shawaza begins like a sweeping whisper. Fingers dance on the strings of a dulcimer, speaking in unworldly poetic verses. Deep, vibrating drums answer the calls of the dulcimer as haunting string arrangements build up into a complex, but beautiful musical sound-scape. Shawaza will take you on a musical journey of feelings and thoughts, invoking the grand spiritual questions of life, death and rebirth. Electronic, orchestral elements are merged with Middle Eastern percussion such as dumbeks, frame drums, riqqs, djembes and finger cymbals. Other various melodic instruments include Oud, and Saz played masterfully by Dann M. Torres of Knossos.
